For founders outside the US
Start a US company from anywhere.
- No SSN needed
- No ITIN needed for the EIN
What's different for you
Your EIN
Applied for by phone, fax or mail instead of online. You don't need an ITIN for it.
How the EIN works from abroadA registered agent
Every company needs one with an address in its state. Ours is included for the first year with our Complete package.
A yearly IRS filing
A single-owner LLC files Form 5472 with a pro forma Form 1120 every year, even with no income. Missing it can cost $25,000, so we remind you every year before it's due.
No S corp
The IRS doesn't allow owners who aren't US citizens or US residents for tax. An LLC or a C corporation works instead.
Why, and what works insteadBanking
US banks decide by where you live, and some by citizenship. We check what's open to you before you pay. No one can promise an account.
LLC or corporation?
Both are open to you. Most founders abroad choose an LLC. Compare them side by side
LLC
For freelancers, agencies, online shops and service businesses. Simple to run, with one extra IRS form a year if you're the only owner.
Start your LLCC corporation
For startups raising investment. It files Form 1120 every year, plus Form 5472 if an owner abroad holds 25% or more and has dealings with it, such as loans or payments. Dividends paid to you are taxed at 30% unless a tax treaty lowers it.
Start your corporationWhich state?
Living abroad, you have no home state, so founders usually compare what each state charges every year.

Questions people ask
Do I need to visit the US?
No. The company and its EIN are set up remotely. Some banks have their own requirements, and we check those with you before you order.
Do I need an ITIN?
Not for the company or its EIN. You'd only need one later if you personally file a US tax return.
Will I pay US tax?
It depends on whether your business is engaged in a trade or business in the US, which a qualified tax professional works out with you. Either way, a single-owner LLC files Form 5472 every year.
Which countries can't you serve?
US sanctions law stops us forming companies for people living in Cuba, Iran, North Korea or the occupied regions of Ukraine. We also don't currently serve people who live in, or are citizens of, Russia or Belarus.
Can I get a US bank account or Stripe?
No one can honestly promise that: banks and payment platforms decide on their own rules. When you order, we check which of the main US banking routes accept people where you live, and help you prepare an honest application.
