Registered agent
A registered agent in your state.
- Required in every state
- Included in our Complete package
Do you need one?
Yes. Every state requires LLCs and corporations to keep one. You can only be your own agent if you live in that state, at a street address where you're available during business hours, and that address goes on public record.
If you live in another state or outside the US, you need a commercial agent like ours.

Questions people ask
Can I use a virtual office or mail-forwarding address?
Generally no. The agent needs a street address in the state where legal papers can be handed over in person. Delaware, for example, doesn't allow agents that work only through a virtual office or mail forwarding.
Can I be my own registered agent?
Only if you live in that state and have a street address there where you're available during business hours, and that address goes on public record. Owners who live elsewhere, including outside the US, need a commercial agent.
What happens if my company doesn't have one?
The state can eventually dissolve the company, and legal papers served on it could be missed, which can lead to a court deciding a case without you.
Can I switch to you from another agent?
Yes. We file the change of agent with your state. Any state fee for the change is passed on at cost.
Is it included in your packages?
Our Complete package includes it for the first year, and after that it renews yearly. With Core, add it for $89 a year, or name your own agent if you live in the state.
